RALEIGH CHOPPER MK3 SISSY BAR.CISSY BAR,SPRINGS MAY SUIT MK1/MK2 NEW PAIR YOU ARE BUYING A BRAND NEW PAIR OF GENUINE RALEIGH SPRINGS WHICH WE THINK WERE. I have described it to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please note this is a USED.VINTAGE bike, being sold AS IS. There is an original bike shop dealer decal on the frame and a metal New Orleans bicycle license affixed to the frame behind the seat. The bike evidently originally came from New Orleans. The only thing I added to it personally is the Raleigh heron lamp bracket since I remembered having one on my Raleigh bike as a kid. The rear hub has the original date stamp on it(tried to show it in the photo it didn't come out very well. The seat has a few small cuts in it, which are visible in the photo. It looks like at one time one of the pedals was hitting the frame but that does not seem to be the case now. I rode it for about a half hour and other than that the gears were not slipping. The shifter doesn't like to downshift from 3rd to 2nd sometimes, but I found shifting it down to 1st and back up worked. The silver covering on the shift cover is peeling. The gearshift is missing the plastic knob on the end. The tubes are NOT original I put some off-the-shelf tubes in when I bought it. They are dry but I took the bike down yesterday, pumped them up and rode around the neighborhood and they are holding air. The redline tires are almost certainly original. There is no serious structural rust that I can find. Chips and dings in many areas, and pitting and rust areas over all the chrome parts. This is a great project bike for anyone who wants to restore it, as you can upgrade here and there and still enjoy riding it at the same time. more a few years ago and have decided to part with it since I'm contemplating a long-distance move. MK1, all original(as far as I can tell) and still functioning. then we'll see. This is a"survivor" Raleigh Chopper"Girly" model. Going into mothballs for now, until my welder - thanks Dad - recovers from recent heart surgery. plus I'm into it for less than the partout value, I think ,at 150. Still happy, this is the first Mk1 I've had that was not a tall frame, and the 5 speed, even if not rare, shows up much less often, both in person and online ( had a hard time finding some on google for reference pics ). (my fault for not looking it over better in the blizzard ? oh well, live and learn, and repair it It was all hidden under the chain lock, and when I examined it, thought the silver spots I saw were worn paint from the lock, not sissy bar chrome showing through holes. The ugly: Turns out BOTH of the seat stays are broken off the rear vertical tubes, leaving holes. The bad: one grip end is ripped, the rims have a lot of peppering, one small spot flaked.Rear tire is near bald, front is a Raleigh but may be newer, no red line remnants either. should be able to repair and leave as-is. Seat is near perfect, just two tiny splits at the back sides, parallel to the sissy. The good: fenders, bars should clean up perfect.
